The guy you might have known from Peaky Blinders has had an impressive career. It was 2001 when I watched his first take in Disco Pigs – how phenomenal was he and has he been?!
Since then, he has been featured in several movies including Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy and John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place Part II. But his most impressive work came in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. The Irish actor scored multiple awards at the Academy and Oscars, cementing his place as one of the greatest actors to ever grace the big screen.
Speaking of his work, he has had quite a number of gigs, but the ones I will be talking about are the best by him. So, without much ado, let us dive right into it.
Batman Begins
Do you know that Cillian Murphy actually auditioned for the superhero role but instead got the role of the villain?
Anyhow, that was the first time when the actor was first introduced to one of the most fantastic directors in Hollywood – Christopher Nolan. His performance was smooth and well-gelled for the role. I should give that to the famed director for choosing him for the role of Scarecrow.
He has such a mysterious personality and the character was tailor-made for Murphy. He, being the Scarecrow, scared the hell out of the people by the mere use of gas. His manipulative skills certainly helped him in getting his results and bringing Batman to life.
I just rewatched the trilogy on my high-speed Spectrum WiFi and the great storyline coupled with seamless HD streaming certainly helped elevate my experience. Spectrum Internet prices are reasonable, face little to no outage, and provide top-notch customer service.
The Wind That Shakes the Barley
If you want to cherish the old times drama such as war, The Wind That Shakes the Barley is going to be worth watching for you.
The story dates back to the 1920s when people were radicalized about British rule in Ireland and two brothers who once loved each other found themselves on the opposite end of the political ideas.
Damien O’Donovan was played by Cillian Murphy and he was wonderful in doing so. His counterpart Teddy O’Donovan was played by Padraic Delaney. Damien struggled a lot during this time and ended on a tragic end. The film won the Palme d’Or award for the best story and masterful performances of the cast.
The Wind That Shakes the Barley is one of my favorite movies in the war drama genre.
Inception
Inception is one of the best movies from the great Christopher Nolan. Even though Leonardo di Caprio was in the leading role as Dom Cobb, founder of Inception, Cillian Murphy stole the show with his breathtaking acting,
Cillian, in the movie, was the heir to the giant business empire. Leo was the leader of the gang who used to steal people’s secrets through a concept called Inception that precisely happened when lucid dreaming.
The members of the Inception gang were quite successful until they had to deal with Cillian Murphy. Cillian stole the show and it was a wonderful experience watching him glide through the role like he owned it.
It was the second time when Christopher Nolan selected Cillian Murphy in a supporting role.
A Quiet Place Part II
You might have missed his part in the movie the same way I did, but the guy in the beard was Cillian Murphy.
After the great success of the original A Quiet Place, director John Krasinski decided to give the story another go, and this is where Cillian Murphy starred in a leading role.
The story revolves around a family who is trying to survive a sound-sensitive but blood-thirsty creature. Cillian Murphy plays Emmett in the movie. Emmett lost his whole family during this calamity, and now he is on his own to survive the unfair world.
On his way, he finds the surviving Abbott family and helps them. Cillian Murphy doesn’t even deliver dialogue in this movie, and even though he is silent all the time, he still charms the audience with his superb acting.
I think this is one of the movies that will appeal to a wider range of audience.
Oppenheimer
I think this role was tailor-made for Cillian Murphy.
Let’s talk a bit about the movie. The story revolves around the Manhattan Project which was led by none other than Robert J. Oppenheimer.
The actor masterfully captures the nuance of the complicated role and couples it with his facial expressions. The slow movement of the camera on Cillian’s face, with the amazing cinematography, and the controversial story of the Father of the Atomic Bomb is worth watching.
Manhattan Project was their flagship project led by Oppenheimer who was a physicist. He had to face consequences for something he didn’t even want to do. The story is great and certainly will have your interest.
No matter which of Cillian’s movies you choose, he has done a marvelous job in all of them. Whether it is Inception or Oppenheimer, you won’t go wrong.
So, have your popcorn ready and cherish the finest of actors.
